~The Mourning of Ren B. Parker~ ....an old country cemetery is near here. I visit it often. The 'old sections' with the old graves dominate the south side, where the families of the dead are long gone also and they receive little to no attention. I have long felt these graves and their names should not be forgotten and each year clean some of them and give them flowers. Often wild flowers of pale lavender flax grow across them in late spring and early summer in remembrance of who rests there from over a century ago. Often their only flowers. In cleaning one large embanked lot one spring I found under nearly a foot of decaying years old leaves, this tiny gravestone. Barely legible, I used pencil and paper tracing to find the words. I sat on the ground, crying for this families loss, of this son, who died before his first birthday, and was forever changed by the stone words. Ren B.
